Does the mysql user need bash shell?

Is there any reason for the mysql user to need bash shell?

From /etc/passwd:
Code:
mysql:x:100:103:MySQL server:/var/lib/mysql:/bin/bash
Will anything break if I change that to /bin/false?

TIA

I don't believe so, but you can always try it and see if anything breaks.

Hi,

I don't know why it's set to bash on your system. All MySQL servers I've installed I have them default set to /bin/false and they still work

Kind regards,

Eric
