Common issues are often caused by people being ignorant of (or plainly caring zilch about) any NS-related RFCs by not putting name servers in different networks, not providing pointer records, fscking up glue records or not using split horizon views and not adhering to any other DNS best practices...

Spell out your words, please. And without knowing ANY context at all, there can be THOUSANDS of different issues, and depending on your environment, different issues might be 'common'. What's the purpose behind this question, and what are you trying to accomplish? Version/distro of Linux? Any details at ALL?
