Debian 7 Non-root User Cannot Read It's Own Files

Hello~

I have a Debian 7 gameserver on OVH that I use to host a minecraft server.

The two primary users for the server are Root and "Minecraft".

My issue is the minecraft server uses Jar file plugins through the "minecraft" account, which sounds logical, however, it keeps saving files, but then doesn't have permission to read the files that it saves.

I am wondering if their is a way to grant the "Minecraft" account root privileges without "sudo" being added to the front of every command, since the jar files aren't set up to automatically do that. Or if there is a way to get rid of the minecraft account altogether and just use the root account for (Yes, I know it's not usually recommended, but I am the only one moving files around on this server.)

Are you using a version of debian with systemd or sysvinit? I'd usually use either an init script or a .service to host it and do it properly as a daemon, at least how I use to do it. On my old game server I can see I had a systemd service do it.

what I used was this script: https://gist.github.com/nathanielc/9b98350ccbcbf21256d7

Only needs a few basic edits to get working. For the older sysvinit, the following script may work: http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Tutor...startup_script

Now you can start/stop minecraft as an actual service. It'll run as root but that shouldn't be an issue on a dedicated server.
