Better perhaps to set the default log level to something sane without messing with dmesg. See "man 2 syslog".
Just adding "quite" to the kernel boot parameters might fix it - 4 is usually reasonable, although, like you, I have on occasions had to turn it right down. Fix the app is best of course.
