Cloning - SystemImager unsupported kernel

Hi,

Could some SME on cloning machines using Fedora and SystemImager point me in the right direction for this issue regarding "unsupported kernel"?

I am tasked to use SystemImager to clone Fedora 22 x86_64 clients running on 64-bit OS. The image server is also running Fedora 22 x86_64.

I downloaded and installed SystemImager using wget and install commands as instructed on page 9 in chapter 2 of the manual SystemImager v4.1.6 Manual.

Then on the Golden Client I ran the command si_prepareclient --server <server_name>

as instructed on page 12 of the manual to prepare the client for setting up a Golden Client Image.

The execution errors out with this:

ERROR: unsupported kernel 4.0.4-301.fc22.x86_64!

I also tried the same thing on a client with Fedora 20 x86_64 and had the same unsupported kernel error message.

I searched for the string "unsupported kernel" in the script /usr/sbin/si_prepareclient but could not find it. Searches on google for this error on Fedora 64 bit platform could not find an answer either.

rpm -qa | grep ... show these:

systemimager-common-4.0.2.1.noarch
systemimager-x86_64initrd_template-4.0.2.1.noarch
systemimager-client-4.0.2.1.noarch

kernel-core-4.0.4-301.fc22.x86_64
kernel-4.0.4-301.fc22.x86_64

Some info on SystemImager:
It creates a Golden Client Image of an existing machine and places it on the SystemImager Server.
This Golden Image can be used to clone new clients via network boot.
New clients can do a PXE network boot and have the Golden Image sent to it and does the auto install automatically.

Are there some other free tools out there that can do similar things for Fedora 22 64-bit?
1) Creates a Golden Image and stores it on a server
2) New clients can do network boot and have the Golden Image sent to it for automatic installation.

Thank you for your input.

Always RTFM

Did you read the documentation at http://collaborate.bu.edu/engit/SystemImager and at http://www.systemimager.org/ pertaining to kernel versions?

I do not use SystemImager myself. It appears an interesting tool with some restrictions: no support for many filesystems (btrfs for one). It is unclear what restrictions pertain, but the documentation from the people who MADE it would seem a good place to start.
