I was moving my DirectAdmin server from a VM to freenas jail. I got it installed for most part but what my bigest problem is, is that i need to add a network interface with my WAN IP and the instructions i had were for debian/ubuntu and dont seem to work for freebsd.

I need these settings to apply:

auto eth0:0
allow-hotplug eth0:0
iface eth0:0 inet static
address <WAN IP>
netmask 255.255.255.0

From what i can tell the eth0:0 needs to be changed into epair0b:0? but i have no idea where i need to place this. the /etc/network/interfaces isnt there on freebsd.

i hope you can help me fix this.

I think i found it.

editing /etc/rc.conf:

ifconfig_<INTERFACE NAME>_alias0="<WAN IP> netmask 255.255.255.255"

adding this line seems to have done the trick
