cgi-bin question

Hello,

I'm running Debian Etch, and Installing a piece of software which requires me to place a few scripts in the cgi-bin/ directory.

I've installed apache2 using apt-get, but the cgi-bin directory is nowhere to be found. Do I just create it?

Any help appreciated.

Yes, if necessary. There is an entry in the httpd.conf file which you use to describe the location of the cgi-bin directory. Obviously, the actual location must be where the config file specifies it. I think the conventional default is usually at the top of the document-root directory. Eg:

/var/www/httpd/         <<<<<<< document-root
    +---- html
    +---- cgi-bin
    +---- ...

The permissions on the directory and its contents must allow the server to execute the programs & scripts in the cgi-bin directory.
