Centos 5 not connecting to internet

Hello, I need help with my linux server.

I had Ubuntu before and worked fine.

I'm using an ethernet.

I just install Centos 5 on it and I have an ethernet plugged in to it, but its not connected to the internet.

When you boot it up it usually says the IP and other info but know it says 0.0.0.0 and I want to use it bad.

Please help me!

you are aware that the current CentOS 5 is ( LEGACY hardware OS ) CentOS 5.11 , and it is getting old .

Great for running on 15 year old hardware
but very lousy on NEW hardware

if you are not using a server that is 10 to 15 years old
-- what is the hardware ?

i would recommend on installing the current CentOS 7.0 ( not a lot of third party support YET - too new )
or CentOS 6.6
