Cant install MySQL on Fedora 12

Hey all

I have installed Apache and PHP on my Fedora 12 machine.

Code:
# yum groupinstall webserver
Its working fine. but i cant install MySQL on top of that.

i have tried

Code:
# yum install mysql
Its installing something, but its not working.

Heres the output i get when i try # mysql

Code:
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
the file /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock does not exist.

Any help is greatly appriciated.

Try it
Quote:
#yum install *mysql*
Are you try to install it from local repository?
As per my suggestion, If you have the F12 dvd then try to install it from local yum server. All the best.

Dear madsovenielsen,
Did you try to install it from local repository?? I mean to say that
At first you dumped your dvd in local file system. then create its repo, at last tried to install from that.
