Asp .net and SQL server

Hello;
We are having our Webserver built with ASP .NET running on Microsoft Windows Server (ASP .NET + MS SQL server Express Edition).
Could we run it on a Linux server?
If yes, what do we need?

I'm no MS expert, but I believe the MS webserver is IIS ?

Anyway, there certainly are equivalent technologies on Linux, but you can't run those MS tools directly on Linux, as the binaries are completely different format.

Linux webserver; Apache (also avail on MS)
Linux DB: MySQL or Postgresql (MySQL also on MS I think ?)
ASP .NET; not sure what that is; some programming env? Loads of those on Linux.

ASP can run under Linux via mod_mono.
Take a look at

But it is not as effective as you think it should be because you have used it on windows.

You can try virtual box too but here too you are using through windows.

I don't know if there is pure method to run on Linux except mod_mono.
