In case this is still relevant, or if someone else is having the issue.
Check the hostname on the server itself, for some reason it thinks that it is authoritative for your domain, which is why it looks to virtusertable instead of looking up the MX records.

The easiest way would be to change the hostname so it doesn't think it is authoritative.
Or you could try this:
add an entry into /etc/mail/mailertable as follows:
your domain smtp:[ip address of your mx record]

restart sedmail.
