VSFTPD Permissions

HI All,

I have setup VSFTPD to use seperate profiles for each users (user_config_dir=/etc/vsftpd/users). Main reason for doing this is so each user can have a seperate chrooted folder for their website.

Now all users are put in /home/www/<username>.

Only way I've been able to allow users to upload here is to set permissions to 777. Is this the correct way or is it a security risk? Everything is owned by root:root.

I'm not too good with all these permissions and user settings so any help would be really appreciated!!

Thanks!

Better would be to have them username.username and permissions set to 711 like the /home directories.

Hi, Thanks for that

One more question I have regarding Vsftpd. Is enabling passive mode a good idea or I would I be best of forcing a connection through PORT mode?
