RH9, Gnome, using firestarter for firewall front end.
Under my system logs I have this about 100 times
Sep 14 09:52:54 localhost fam[10502]: Fatal misconfiguration: attempted to use unknown user name "nobody" for untrusted-user
not sure about the unknown user but about seing your login id twice.....If you use the x windows enviroment and also have a terminal window open you will see yourself logged in twice... Once for the x windows(the intial signon) signon and once when you open a terminal window. This is normal. Go ahead and open an additional terminal and type user's and you will see yourself 3 times.
