On one of my Pc's--is there a way to stop a kid from downloading files through ftp or http? I used iptables for my firewall. But I want to allow all others to download. if possible mabe restrict instant messager to certain times of the day.

You can use SQUID proxy server... setup Users and Passwords.. then you can set the rules etc depending on their username and password...

www.squid-cache.org

OR

if the PC is unique to that user.. then set the rules for that PC.. you can have 1 or 2 scripts that can be automatically changed at certain times...
www.chrisliveonline.com/security/ this is how i did it for my office.

Hope this helps
Chris
