Secure file transfer through SSH session

Hello everybody,

I have a remote SSH connection to remote Linux SUSE machine, I am using Putty to connect to my firewall then connect from the same session to that remote machine.

I have a file located on the remote machine, how could I transfer it either to my FW machine or to my local machine?

Regards,
Simsam
.

Hi and welcome to LQ. You could use the scp command e.g.
Code:
scp user@host:/path/to/remote/file /path/to/local/file

Thank you

I got the following notification when I have used the above command with the following parameters:

scp user@host:/path/to/remote/file /path/to/local/file
ssh: my-machine-name: Name or service not known

scp my-machine-IP:/path/to/remote/file /path/to/local/file

ssh_exchange_identification: read: Connection reset by peer

Sounds that there is a problem in the ssh session authentication because I am able to ping the remote machine and not able to ping my machine from the remote one.
