I have the following in my rc.local

/sbin/ipchains -A input -j ACCEPT -p tcp -i eth0 -s 0.0.0.0/0 -d 0.0.0.0/0 137:139

/sbin/ipchains -A output -j ACCEPT -p tcp -i eth0 -s 0.0.0.0/0 -d 0.0.0.0/0 137:139

/sbin/ipchains -A input -j ACCEPT -p udp -i eth0 -s 0.0.0.0/0 -d 0.0.0.0/0 137:139

/sbin/ipchains -A output -j ACCEPT -p udp -i eth0 -s 0.0.0.0/0 -d 0.0.0.0/0 137:139


But I still have to do a 'srvice ipchains stop' before I can access the filesystem remotely from my windows xp box. What wrong with my ipchains script? How come I am still being firewalled?

What wrong with my ipchains script?
1. It's in the wrong place: initialisation usially is done with /etc/rc.* scripts.
2. It's not a "proper" firewall script: it doesn't cover the "basics".
3. If you have problems doing basic troubleshooting, try add logging.
