Ive just about finished it know and thought Id thank everyone for any answers/help they gave me during the course of the project (especially when trying to chroot Apache 2.0, SSL and PHP and get it to communicate with MySQL).

Actually yes.
I was considering setting up VPN's, configuring cisco routers with differrent routing protocols (to see its affect on the route taken by the vpn connection) and comparing differrent types e.g. PPTP without IPSec with IPSec. IPsec alone L2TP etc.
Suppose you could do something similar and include a comparison of IP V4 and Ip V6 in terms of Ip address availability and usage.
yeah, i think so. mine's only a BSc dissertation though, so probably a bit of a lower level than your's. However, the IPv4/IPv6 comparison thing interests me, the only problem is that i need to find something that hasn't really been done before! lol

Well to write a shopping Basket I would reccommend using php.
Take a browse arond the net for some sites with tutorials etc.
I'd also reccommend the O'Reilly book Creating Web Database Applications as this illustrates (using the example of a Wine store) How to write a full E-Commenrce Website including a Shopping Basket....
