Solution:
  1. Use HTTPS the way it was intended, which includes "proving you are who you say you are" via a CA signed server certificate
  2. Use "Let's Encrypt" as the CA to sign the certificate (free)
  3. Abandon current use of free DDNS provider "FreeDNS", https://freedns.afraid.org , because their free DDNS domains are NOT in the "Public Suffix List", thus Let's Encrypt has a very low probability of signing them successfully, due to "rate limits" that are applied by Let's Encrypt
  4. Switch to free DDNS provider "Dynu DNS", https://www.dynu.com , because their domains ARE in the Public Suffix List, thus can be easily signed by Let's Encrypt
  5. Note: Did not use free DDNS provider "no-ip", https://www.noip.com , even though they are the big fish in the pond, because of their requirement for you to login to their website manually once every 30 days to keep your free domain flagged as "active"
