Hi there I am Novice user and I would like to start getting to do the security side of things on Linux and would like to know any good resources on the web that show how to monitor networks in linux, where to look for log files that show security related stuff, and start to implement security features on linux. If you guys could post some links to sites that you find usefull it would be very appreciated. Oh and whats a good Distro. for security?

Regarding security links, I guess you didn't see the seventh thread from the top of this forum. One of the LQ moderators, unSpawn has done a great job of collecting the best links, and he continues to update it. I don't know why it's so hard to see, but every couple of weeks someone asks this same question.

And as far as a secure distro, every distro has exploits that may or may not be known presently. Some one will find an exploit today, tomorrow, or the next day. So the most secure distro is one that you work on keeping secure.
