Lots of attack in my proftp

I just notice that my proftp server is being attack. There's a lot of "no such user found from " I found in the secure log. Is there a way I can block those ip who retry for almost 5 times and include it in the hosts.deny?

Best start with reading this thread: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...tempts-340366/ most solutions don't apply to only SSH.

I have used fail2ban, and it has worked well for me in the past. You can configure how many failed attempts, adnd how long you want it to ban for. By default it uses iptables, but i believe it can be configured for host.deny as well
