Also, do you have a specific reason why you're using sendmail, rather than something more secure? If no, I would have a look at Postfix, Qmail, and Exim. They're all more secure than sendmail, which is the most widely exploited MTA in history.
Sendmail is also the most widely used program; which is why it is the most exploited.
Use spamassisn to filter the spam, it works great. There are also sendmail directives that work well. Goto sendmail.org to read their documentation.
