How to add user with dot in between

Hi Guyz

Can any one tell me how can i add user with "." in between on Red Hat linx

normally linux doesnt allow this e.g

abc.xyz is it possible

Hi Manya, I read a thread here on this topic just a couple of days ago.

I can't find it right now, (I am at work) try a little searching and see if it comes up.

IIRC the resolution ahd sthg to do with editing /etc/passwd
