fedora firewalld applet panel icon is black bricks with black shield; is this normal????

fedora firewalld mate desktop applet panel icon is black bricks with black shield; is this normal????
the zone is "block"; shouldn't I have a red brick background ????; how do I know it is working right?
the icons are not documented anywhere I could find. "iptables -L" shows reasonable settings I think
(I will not post them here !!!!)
