Control at application level

Hello,

is it possible to control the inbound/outbound at application level?

For example, I may want to allow Konqueror to place an outbound connection on port 80 to web site www . xxxxxx . com but disallow Mozilla to access port 21 at ftp . yyyyyyy . net.

In windows there are several firewall programs (Outpost, Kerio, and others) that do permit this and let you create rules the very first time a program tries to access a specific port and/or server, is there something similar for Linux?

Thank you in advance.

maybe something like this:

http://www.balabit.com/products/zorp/

although that's aimed more for firewall/gateway servers...

sounds like what you want is like a desktop app with a GUI and stuff...
