CISSP associate vs GIAC Information Security Fundamentals (GISF)

I have been using linux now for about 6 years. I am obsessed with security and I find thats all i read about and stay on top off. I want to make a carrer move into the security field. I am currently a UNIX/linux admin. How I know some people say certs are good and some say waste of time experience counts for more and I agree with both. With my mindset I dont think certs are a waste because I make sure I learn as much as I can not just for writing them but to actually learn. Now I have been looking a security jobs recently at a lot ask for either CISSP - SANS etc etc. In peoples view wich one should I try to get first

The Associate of (ISC)² to try and get me in the door or

GIAC Information Security Fundamentals (GISF) from SANS.

CISSP is more recognized by orgnizations while GIAC is slowly catching on. CISSP focus more on theory and GIAC's focus is on practice.
