Check CD for viruses, defects?

Hello,

Windows XP got some terrible viruses, and Ubuntu threw up on my hardware. I have to give an important presentation soon, so I need Debian fast! I will take the ISO files for GParted and Debian on a USB drive to the electronics district, this afternoon, and pay a small shop to burn them onto CD. It is hard to trust the vendors there, so I need a foolproof way to check if the CD they gave me has the same content as the original ISO files. The original files come from the official server and are clean. Can I run a md5 or sha1 check or something similar on the CDs after they have been burnt?

Thanks!

I've been using this method for years.
