MS-Linux? Lindows? Could Microsoft release a desktop Linux?
"I used to say that Microsoft would release a Microsoft desktop Linux -- MS-Linux or Lindows -- when pigs fly. Lately, though, I've been hearing oinking from the sky. Here's why."
I would venture to guess that it's on the horizon. I personally wouldn't use it (much like I don't use Windows), but I think many people would actually embrace it. Stranger things have happened.
Oh, okay, the cloud. Yes, I imagine that will figure in, somehow. But as it turns out, the cloud is just "other people's computers." No matter what fancy name you call it.

Correct, but IBM is probably taking Red Hat to the cloud direction as well probably so... But yea, I am not too keen on 'muh cloud' , I'll try to keep everything local for good reason.

Yeah man, all those big companies have their heads in the clouds.
Within the article I saw this phrase: "With Microsoft doing all it can to get customers to move to cloud-based apps from shrink-wrapped programs, the underlying desktop operating system loses its importance."
It is my thought that one of the end results of Microsoft's plans is to have the information, on anybody's computer, whether MS of Linux, onto the cloud. Among other reasons, they want to get rid of desktops, our personal freedoms, and regulate our lives, have control over our information, photos, and personal habits, for profit and control.
...I think many people would actually embrace it [ms-Linux]...
And then we could extend it...

Back to the old days of batch processing on somebody else's computer.
