XF86Free detected 4.3 but requires 4.2...wtf

I'm trying to get XF86 configured so I can get X running to play 3d games. I type in runlevel 3 as root: XF86Free -configure and it outputs a bunch of errors that I'm thinking all stem from the first line that says "XF86Free version detected 4.3 required 4.2"

Do I need to downgrade my XF86Free to get X running or do I have to create a link somewhere to tell it that it should use 4.3.

I think I'm a little more than confused here.

Check your list of installed packages to see which XFree version you have. Maybe there are two, mixed?

I had the same problem. I never fixed it. I was trying to be able to play HalfLife in somehting else than just Software mode and xfree said that i had a too new version of the software it needed.

Please message me if you fix this.
