Question wvdial is not connecting to internet


hello all,
i am trying to connect Internet through wvdial using dialup connection(Xorg is off), m using Ubuntu 11.04 32 bit and Nokia 5130 xpress Music phone.....when i tried to connect with wvdial command , i got the error "subscribe to packet data first" error on cell.....here is my wvdial.conf file...

my ISP has not provided me any username or password ...and connection works fine in GUI mode...but i need to connect in CLI....TIA

I'm pretty sure you still have to add the username and password file to the conf file. It's default...
Username = user
Password = pass

have you checked the info in /etc/resolv.conf ? Sometimes wvdial will completely wipe that file :S
it should say something like

nameserver "with an ip address"
nameserver "with an ip address"

tried with
Username = user
Password = pass
but it didn't work out..
checked resolv.conf and here it is

Bugga. I'm at uni at the moment. If you havnt solved this thread when I get home I'll log back on and give you a hand I use wvdial alot and on my iPhone I can't even open your attachment.

Hopefully someone will give u an answer. If not. I'll write back soon.

- usb_modeswitch
- usb_modeswitch-data
- libusb
- wvdial
- wvstreams

yeah, all the packages r installed...found d packages libwvstreams4.6-base n libwvstreams4.6-extras instead of wvstreams...

Instead of wvstreams ? I'm no help then. I'm only used wstreams to install wvdial. God bless slackbuilds !!
I'd try and get wvstreams installed. Check source forge. You'll have to build it from source but it's easy peasy.

Init3 = AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","your_ap_name",,0,0

Insert this after init2 and replace your_ap_name with your service's name. In my case it is "airtelgprs.com".

P/s : copy exactly everything including the quotes and coma

thnx dude its working (big grin).....btw how can i end connection i tried ctrl+c and ctrl+z but it didn't work....n even closing the terminal....

I use ctrl + c to end it. The easiest way is to unplug the usb device if you're not using it anymore
