wraparound text

How do I turn off the wraparound text function at the command line? I am having a difficult time creating links to files when I cannot confirm that I have entered the data correctly. My filename stream wraps back onto the same line that I was already on and so it seems as though I am missing letters somehow. Help?

Hi, and welcome to LQ!

As for your problem: there's many possibilities: one would be
the termcap settings, another one (that seems to be more frequent,
looking at the posts on these boards) is that you have a very
"special" PS1 variable (you have a custom prompt).

Cheers,
Tink
