wondering if there is a program avaliable on linux mint that will allow me to access my samsung j7 with broken screen

i broke the screen on my samsung j7 star and so the phone will still turn on and everything fine but the touch screen is gone so i have tried hooking my phone to the computer with usb but because i cant use touch screen to allow the phone to transfer files or anything it just acts as its being charged when i hook it up. ive tried researching ways to get around this and have found some ways but they all require me to download some kind of data retrieve or something of the sort program. the only problem is all of those programs are only showing an option for windows or mac computers theres no linux and ive tried to just choose windows to see what would happen but once it downloads and says open with....notthing further happens. so im wondering if linux has a built in program or if anyone knows of one that is supported by linux mint

If the question of how to use usb is a choice in your Android version then I'm not sure you can access it without screen. There are some ways some phones can be put into a diag mode with a set of keys and reboot but you'll have to study that. I'd think that online you could get a new digitizer pretty cheaply. See if your backup data in on your google account.
