Seems the mirror is temporary down
Wait a while, and retry, or download from here :

Code:
wget http://launchpadlibrarian.net/253900...untu2_i386.deb
sudo dpkg -i network-manager_0.7.1%7Erc4.1.cf199a964-0ubuntu2_i386.deb
Then open networkmanager, and see wha happens.

I'm still interested in the hardware and would like to make sure you have the right one installed. Any way I can get you to type lspci -vn I know you did something similar before but I want to make sure you have the right chipset for the driver I want to send you to.

repo - was going so well last night but I passed out. You were right, the download site must have been down. I tried

sudo apt-get install network-manager-gnome

again this morning and this time it worked. After restarting, Network Managager icon now shows up beside date in task bar and mired wired network shows up and is still working ok.

When I right click on 'Network Manager' icon and select 'Edit Connections' my wireless network does not show up in 'Wireless Networks'. I tried to 'add' the details of my wireless network to 'Wireless' but no wireless networks appear to be able to connect to.

Previously before I totally lost my wired network and wicd I was able to see my wireless network and also other wirelsess networks in my area but I was still not able to connect wirelessly.

What do you suggest from here?

tke1384 - Here's the results of

The kernel module for your wireless chip is acx which does not seem to be loaded.
sudo modprobe acx. Try if this works. And what about the links that I posted in previous posts.

I did try to follow the links provided and use nsdiwrapper but to be honest the instruction were too complex for me to understand or follow.
At one point where I followed ubuntu intructions to disable drivers I lost my wired connection and wicd wont work.

tke1384 and repo were very helpful giving basic instructions and I have since been able to repair what had been done and my wired connection now works again although wicd still wont work. I now have Network Manager' installed again but still no wireless networks showing up.

To use ndiswrapper:
Code:
sudo apt-get install ndiswrapper-utils
download the windows driver from your wireless card, or copy the driver from the install CD
Code:
sudo ndiswrapper -i bcmwl5.inf
(fill out your own drivers for bcmwl5.inf)
Code:
sudo ndiswrapper -l
sudo modprobe ndiswrapper
type
Code:
sudo dmesg
to see if the card is recognized.
Code:
sudo iwconfig

The driver for wireless card is still not installed properly. Even if you are using ndiswrapper, I guess you will still need the proper windows driver for your card. i have not used ndis so I cant much help you on that but I still think you need drivers for your acx card. You are installing drivers for broadcom.

Did you used the original driver from the windows install CD ?

To remove the driver
Code:
sudo ndiswrapper -e wg311v2
