winlinux 2003 cd: install failure: no reg #

Hi,
A complete newbie to linux. Bought a winlinux cd off the net for my first intro to linux. Old computer, still a learner. Installed fine until registration # required. Went to website-no website anymore!! Went to Winlinux Cracks. No info for Johnny! Contacted vendor who sent me a copy of Ubuntu Live as recompense - sadly my modem is not recognized. I'd like to try the program - any thoughts? Thanx.

If Ubuntu doesnt recognize your modem try a diffeent distro like PCLinuxOS or Kanotix.

What kind of modem is it? Sadly, it might be a WinModem that won't work under linux. You might have to shell out for a serial modem (about $20 US).
