Angry Why can't i download steam on Wine?

Hei,

I've been trying for hours to download and use wine on ubuntu 12.04 so that i can be able to install and play black ops cd that i have. i have downloaded 1.4 wine package from winehq.org/download/deb and wine is installed on my pc but everytime i try to open steam.exe nothing happens. I have tried both use and open in wine downloader buttons. Do i have to use 1.5 wine package for ubuntu 12.04 and if yes where do i downloaded from? because i tried downloading it on winehq.org but it's unstable yet.

I would appreciate if you help me to use wine and play black ops which is compatible only with vista, xp and 7.

thanks for your support.

I got this message when i tried to open wine for windows programs

"Wine could not find a Gecko package which is needed for applictaions embedding HTML to work correctly. Wine can automatically download and install it for you.

Note: it is recommended to use your distribution's packages instead. See http://wiki.winehq.org/Gecko for details.
