Thumbs up Unable to download using Steam

I'm running Debian Sid AMD64 2.6.27 kernel and using Wine 1.0.1.

I just installed Steam, and two things are wrong with it; 1) I do not have any sound output at all from Steam, even though the Wine config box will generate sound when the test sound button is pushed, and; 2) When I click on 'Install Demo,' regardless of the title, the title will not download at all. I can click on videos and they'll run, I can place stuff in my shopping cart, but I cannot download game demos. And I am confused.

Until I can be sure the game will work on my system, I am not going to buy it. But I would like to purchase the Orange Box, because I'm relatively confident my PC has the power to run all of the games.

Has anyone run into this before? And does anyone have any suggestions for possibly remedying this situation? I have un-installed and re-installed both Steam and Wine in the hopes that would do something.

Thanks in advance.

Try looking here: http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iVersionId=1554

Get development release Wine 1.1.12 and try with it: http://www.winehq.org/download If does not work, report as a bug with your system details.
