Hello, you could try Manjaro, it has bumblebee on it by default, this gives me 3.30 hrs on my nvidia optimus laptop. Intel i5 geforce gt540m cuda 1gb windows 7. hope this helps.

If you will look at a program named "jupiter" that might solve your problem it will throttle the cpu
when it is not needed. I use slackware and it has 9 different WM's and I just use one of the lighter
ones when extra time is needed.
