Where to find desktop cpu monitor for flux?

in Fluxbox screencaps, i always see cpu monitors and other nifty gauges populating the side of the screen. i tried adding gkrellm, but it says i need some gtk lib's, even though i already have them according to synaptic and apt-get... so i'd like to know what some alternatives are?

hmm i downloaded the tar.bz2 package. tar -xvf. cd'ed into the new directory. ./configure then tried to make. it says "no targets specified and no makefile found". now i see that there is a makefile.am and makefile.in there. what am i doing wrong?

also, how do i get it to run whenever i start up?

You don't have it.
go to the ubuntu site and they will tell you how to update your apt sources and just;
sudo apt-get install conky

so how do i get it to start whever i boot?
