Your best bet is to download and install Apache/Tomcat as a package (rather than trying to build and install it yourself, from source).
The best way to do this is usually the "yum" command. For example:
yum install tomcat*
To use Tomcat, you'll need Java. I strongly recommend that you use Sun Java (and not GJC, the GNU Java compiler). And to use Java, I strongly recommend you get "jpackage-utils". For example:
yum install jpackage-utils

Most of it looks up-to-date. I *don't* believe you have to install Tomcat separately any more (like the link suggests). I believe "yum install tomcat*" should suffice.
