Post What is Linux in simpler words and why is is important.

I am new to Linux. Do you need to know any coding languages in order to understand Linux?

No, but it is very helpful to know how to read. The link below gives a long list of Linux distributions with linkz to each explaining then.

Linux – like Windows, like OS/X / MacOS, like iPhone, like Android, like ... like ... like ... – is simply "a layer of software that you use to control your computer so that you can use it from day to day." (Every computer must have some layer of software installed which does this ...) You don't need to know any "coding languages" in order to very happily use it. However, you will find that nearly every "coding language" runs here, as well as in other environments.

You don't need to know ANY coding language to understand Linux. Load and go. Do you do that when you use your cell phone? No. Just use it as is. Just like Windows, Apple MacOs, or BSD, or Android.....

And there you go on your other question.

no, linux is not important. You can live without that. Learn it, use it if you wish.

Welcome to the forum!

The way to learn Linux is the same way that you learn to use Windows — take it one step at a time. Explore the menu, see how things like the file manager work, try the programs. Your distribution should have some documentation on its web-site. Many GUIs have their own sites — KDE, Gnome, Mate, Xfce. Many programs will have site with lots of documentation. And then there are all the incredible experts here to call on!

I recommend creating a document called configuration or the like. Every time you have to find out how to do something, make a note — you can't expect to remember everything.

What is Linux? (Linux Distro) is an operating system like Windows, to use Linux you do not need any programming language. Still to be a Linux administrator you can start with learning C++, Python and Linux shell script. Before learning these three programming languages it would be great if you start learning Linux terminal commands first.
