What is a X server

why does it say this and how do i fix it?

Application tried to create a window, but no driver could be loaded.
Make sure that your X server is running and that $DISPLAY is set correctly.

this also what is this?

Fatal server error:
Server is already active for display 0
If this server is no longer running, remove /tmp/.X0-lock
and start again.

Are you trying to start another session on another screen? Are you using ssh? Or are you having a problem with your video setup causing X to fail?

What are you looking at and what have you done so far. We don't have any context to work on to help you out.

I think you probably missed file at /etc/conf. Try type this "startx". If it can't help you, boot with live cd and copy that file to your hard disk and paste it when you enter your linux. Or, as my experienced said, installed it again

copy /etc/X11/xorg.conf from another live cd and paste it into your flash disk. Then, boot from your linux and paste it
