Arrow want to surf on linux


okay, I just installed linux but I don't know the command any more to surf
it was something like "linx" I thought but it doesn't work
does anyone know how that can be ?

surf??? presumably you just mean to get online?

linx is actually lynx. But you'll presumably have netscape installed aswell, so use that.

how are you trying to connect? do you need to use a modem? or are you on a network already or what?

if you've got a modem and it's correctly installed and you've got an internet account on windows, then you can run wvdialconf (assuming you have it) and edit the file (/etc/wvdial.conf), to add your user name and password accordingly, and run wvdial to sonnect to the internet. You'll also need to get a dns server addres, so you can find websites and such like. add the line

195.92.195.95 to the /etc/resolv.conf file. This server is in england, and if your not, you might want to find one a bit nearer.

You should also be able to create an internet account under gnome or kde. should be hidden in the menu somewhere
