Want to know to create package in Ubuntu 8

Hi,

I am new to Linux
I have a set of .sh files and some other ini files which will run from a path which is harded in the script.

I would to create a rpm package so that anyone who is goin to use this set of files does not need to worry where the files have to be kept to execute the sh files.

Please help me with links or examples as to how to create a package.

Ubuntu uses the debian build format, suffix *.deb .
