Unhappy Video hardware acceleration problem


cinnamon is currently running without video hardware acceleration..how can i fix this problem.

Welcome to LQ.

This is a common problem with the Cinnamon version of Linux Mint etc for some users and fallback mode is often related to graphics hardware and video drivers in particular.

Try installing either the MATE or Xfce version of Linux Mint/other.

Neither of these two needs hardware acceleration enabled, unlike Cinnamon.

All you need to do is install the MATE (or Xfce) version of Linux Mint.

Open a Terminal and then type:

sudo apt-get install mint-meta-mate
Log out (not Quit) of the Cinnamon desktop environment and log in again.

Click on the gearwheel/cog in the top right corner (see attached screenshot) and select MATE.

Hardware acceleration is usually disabled when the hardware isn't capable.
