Unhappy video display multiple images on dell c800-pp01x using lubuntu low mem install

Hi just tried to install lubuntu for low memory laptop and have a working system except for display and ethernet .

the display shows vertical stripes that look like the display is trying to put multiple images up. changing the monitor settings just makes the picture bigger or smaller the only on screen options are the resolution and refresh rate .

the ethernet did not install at all but can not fix untill i fix display

any help at all would be wonderfull thank you
