Question video color depth problems with Radeon 7500 LE

I have a ATI Radeon 7500 LE video card paired with a Samsung SyncMaster 15GLe and i can't get Red Hat 9 to display a color depth greater than 256 color with the generic radeon driver

i would greatly appreciate any help.

So install the real radeon driver and then try it.

by generic driver, are you talking about the driver that comes with XFree86? what XFree86 Version are you using?

yes i am using the xfree86 that comes with redhat, but i dont know how to find the version information

thanks for the advice on the driver. i have had problems with earlier versions of the drivers
