VFS: Cannot open root device "805" or unknown-block(8,5)

Hello all.
I'm trying to install Gentoo on Toshiba SatellitePro A100. After compiling kernel.2.6.17-r8 and reboot I have this:

VFS: Cannot open root device "805" or unknown-block(8,5)
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block (8.5)

I have Windows XP on /dev/sda1 - which is able to boot
/dev/sda2 - swap
/dev/sda3 - Extended
/dev/sda5 - Linux /
/dev/sda6 - Linux /home

LILO.conf:
lba32
boot = /dev/sda
map = boot.map

prompt
timeout = 50
vga = normal

image = /boot/kernel.2.6.17-gentoo-r8
root = /dev/sda5
label = Gentoo
read- only
append = "doscsi"

other = /dev/sda1
label = Windows
table = /dev/sda

#less /ets/fstab

/dev/sda5 / ext3 noatime 0 1
/dev/sda6 /home ext3 noatime 0 2
/dev/sda2 none swap sw 0 0
/dev/cdroms/cdrom0 /mnt/cdrom iso9660 noauto,ro,user 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0

I recompiled kernel and add SCSI support, but I have the same error.
Can anybody help to solve this out please. THx.
