VERY faint screen on T60 after exiting from X

Hi,
I have just loaded Slackware 12.2 on a Thinkpad T60.
The install went very well and I have a "working" system that includes X (KDE) and networking.
My problem arrises when I exit out of X or if I CtrlAltF* to another terminal. I then get a screen that is so faint it is unreadable and I have to re-boot.

Anybody have any ideas or pointers to this problem.

Cheers
Jon L.

try changing(or adding) the kernel's "vga" argument in grub in /boot/grub/menu.lst
maybe to "vga=791"? i don't know what will do it for you screen.

should be something like
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.XX.Y-Z ... some options ... vga=791
