Using Centos 6.4, how to inform the kernel that the /sda2 partition has increased
Am needing to enlarge the /dev/mapper/vg_xxx-lv_root size from a fixed size of 50G to 500G.
After cloning from a 300gb disk onto a 1tb disk, after using fdisk to delete the /sda2 partition & then creating that partition to end on the larger cylinder, gpartd does
see that the /sda2 partition as now being ~ 933gb in size.
The OS boots fine. How do I inform the kernel of this so that the /root can now be increased from its original limit of 50G? Using vgdisplay; shows the format is lvm2,
vg status is resizable, free pe/size is 0. When using the
resize2fs or lvextend or partprobe commands they each report that its at its maximum size? The jobs that run on these systems fill the /usr/scratch directory of 50gb real quick before completion.
What can I do to increase this volume size?
Again, Centos 6.4 is being used.
Thanks,
Wayne
