USB + remote window x/sh on win2k

I am setting up a webserver. I am doing this for my union, and i have a machine here at home that ican use.

The trouble is that i only have one monitor, and i can use that to get the distro installed and started, I was wondering if there was a way to use the USB cable to go between my win2k box, and the webserver box. Can be Telnet, Shell, Xwindow.. dosent matter. How easy is this to setup ? I tried using 2 nic cards on my win2k box before and found nothing but headaches. Or is there an easier way to deal with this ?

I still havent settled on a distro. Although Slackware is a fond one. I might opt for something else.

thankyou.

There are USB cables and software similar to MS direct cable connection but I don't know or doubt if it is compatable with linux.

Using two NICs would be the best method.

If your two PC are going to be side by side anyway you could use a Keyboard, video, mouse (KVM) switch. A two position switch can be had for about $40 US.
