Hope someone can help this frustrated newbie.
I installed FC3 on a second hard disk in my Dell Dimension 2400. I use system commander to switch b/n OSes and during installtion, I installed the boot loader to the first partition of the hard drive rather than to the MBR. I see that none of the usb ports are recongnized. Since my HP PSC 2210 is connected through the usb port, the printer is not working too. I could not find /dev/usb/lp0 and to my surprise neither usb nor sda* are there in the /dev directory. I appreciate if someone can give me suggestions. Thank you very much

Moved: This thread is more suitable in a technical forum like Linux-Newbie than in Intro and has been moved accordingly to help your thread/question get the exposure it deserves.

In newer kernels (like the one you have in FC3) files in /dev are created after the driver is loaded. If it's not or ports/devices are not found (as in your case) they don't exist.

Please look into /var/log/messages files. It keeps system logs. What is important for you, it keeps also boot logs. Is there anything about usb?
